GeoDyne has undertaken extensive site investigation works of a former colliery site in Wrexham. This included locating and treating two disused mine shafts and assessing three parcels of land formerly occupied by a haulage company, bus depot and scrapyard.

A detailed Human Health and Groundwater (P20) Risk Assessment was undertaken with a Remediation Method Statement produced in support of the planning application with the intention of redeveloping the site for a residential end-use.

The remediation strategy included the stabilisation and capping of two 200m deep disused mine shafts, treatment of hydrocarbon contaminated soils (by ex-situ bioremediation) and removal of associated fuel tanks, earthworks design strategy and details of proposed remedial capping within the final development.

The value of the investigation and remediation work was in excess of £100,000. The site was successfully remediated under our supervision and regulatory approval was obtained for the works.
